Art licensing is when an artist (Licensor) and company/business owner (Licensee) come to an agreement where the artist gives permission for the company to use their work on products in exchange for a fee and with mutually agreed upon terms

Essentially you are renting my artwork based on specific terms including contract length and product category to be used on your products

Non-exclusive means you have permission to use my artwork on your products, however, I retain ownership of the artwork, and can continue to use it for other purposes or license it to other clients. 

An exclusive license, on the other hand, grants you exclusive use of the licensed designs for the agreed upon time and specific product category. You will have exclusive rights to use the artwork based on those terms - I will still retain ownership of it and may license it to other companies in different product categories
